The Strasburg Railroad offered at that time, maybe still does, cabooses in which you could stay the night. Each caboose had a bed, bathroom, TV and a lounge chair. It was pretty crowded, but a great treat just the same. In the morning we ate breakfast in a dining car that was stationary, but rocked back and forth just like a real moving train. It also had sound effects. Thanks to Mary/the teach for hosting this site. Just click on http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com to see lots more RED photos.

Oh, these photos are so terrific. I love trains...and having the simple pleasure of a caboose that is never in use anymore, makes it all more the worthwhile!
MY R. T. is now posted...scroll down from my Tuesday's Heads or Tails post....

Gary, that sounds like fun - to stay in a caboose overnight! Thanks for being part of Ruby Tuesday! :)
Hi, Bro-in-law. The pictures are great, and I visited the "Caboose Motel in the spring and it's still there and open to guests. I have such fond memories of my Dad standing beside the engine at the East Broad Top. He always had his hands behind his back and was just in his glory in the presence of those giant trains. He surely did love them! Judy T
This looks so cute and definitely would be a fun experience!
